Steve Zapata – President, CEO and Managing Member of bTrade
Steve is a highly respected eCommerce executive who has held significant management positions at IBM Global Network and IBM World Trade Group, General Electric’s GlobalExchange Division, DNS Commerce, TIE Commerce, Cyclone Commerce (Now Axway) and INOVIS. Steve has over 25 years of experience in the electronic commerce, EDI and security areas of technology, and has led initiatives both domestically and internationally.
Steve spent twelve years with IBM as a Systems Engineer, Marketing Representative, Manager and Country Manager for IBM Global Network and its EDI/VAN/AS2 solutions located in New York and Mexico City. Steve successfully grew the GE GXS operations in Mexico and the Caribbean as General Manager. As President and CEO, Steve led DNS Commerce, a Boston-based EDI software and services company, to a turnaround and eventual acquisition by a European e-commerce company. He was also President and CEO of TIE Commerce USA and Chief Strategy Officer of TIE Holding, a publicly-held company on the NYSE, located in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Before that, Steve was VP of Sales and Strategy for Cyclone Commerce (now Axway) an AS2 and MFT provider located in Scottsdale, Arizona. Steve also held the position of Senior Vice President of Sales & Business Development at INOVIS located in Alpharetta, Georgia.
Steve holds an MBA from San Francisco State University, a BS Degree from California State University, Chico and an Associate of Arts Degree from Riverside City College. Steve attended Ventura College of Law, completing coursework towards his JD degree with an emphasis in Corporate Law.
Steve acts as an advisor to the private equity firm, Avantce (www.avantce.com) located in Naples, Florida, regarding operational matters concerning Avantce’s portfolio companies. Steve sits on the Advisory Board of Directors of DirectEDI, a web services and hosted transformation company located in San Diego. He has also previously held board seats with Ecsalesdata.com of Los Angeles and XsCapacity of Northampton, Massachusetts.
Don Miller – Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel
Don has a dual role at bTrade. As COO, he manages the day-to-day activities of the company to ensure the proper functioning of all aspects of our products and services so that bTrade is consistently delivering the quality and efficiency our customers expect. As General Counsel, he supervises and directs the company’s legal activities.
Prior to joining bTrade, Don was a partner in the Los Angeles law firm of Sandler and Rosen, LLP. During his 13 years with Sandler and Rosen, he handled a wide range of sophisticated civil litigation matters for businesses and high net-worth individuals. He also provided legal advice to clients on transactional matters, including corporate formation issues, acquisitions, protection of intellectual property, contract negotiation, and dispute resolution. In addition to providing quality services to clients, Don was responsible for a variety of administrative duties, including implementation and oversight of the firm’s online legal research capabilities.
Don has a Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Southern California’s Gould School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Buena Vista University, Storm Lake, Iowa. He is a licensed member of the State Bar of California.
Theresa Perez – Vice President of Finance and Accounting
Theresa is responsible for all finance functions worldwide including external reporting, treasury and cash management, business insurance, tax planning and compliance, risk management, and accounting.
Theresa joined the CPA firm of King, King, Alleman and Jensen as a Junior Associate and later became a Tax partner of the firm. Theresa gained International tax experience from her tenure at the Big 4 firms of Ernst & Young, LLP and PriceWaterhouseCoopers, LLP. At E&Y she worked in the Personal Financial Planning Tax group and at PWC, she worked in the Middle Market Advisory Services group assisting in tax, accounting and financial matters.
Theresa has also served as CFO for the Burbank Community YMCA overseeing the finance and accounting functions and also served as Interim CEO for an eighteen month period. She has assisted in the acquisition of various properties and has been instrumental in securing financing options for the organization.
Theresa Perez received her Bachelor of Science Degree from California State University, Chico in Accounting and she received her Masters of Tax from the Leventhal School of Accounting at the University of Southern California (USC). Theresa is a Certified Public Accountant and is a member of the American Institute of CPA’s and the California Society of CPA’s. Theresa has been a volunteer board member for various nonprofit organizations in the Los Angeles area.
Clifton Gonsalves – Vice President of Engineering and Solution Architect
As bTrade’s Vice President of Engineering and Solution Architect, Clifton oversees our product and technology implementations and customer support. Clifton focuses on business-to-business and collaborative commerce technologies, including guidance on technology planning in support of corporate growth. He also works closely with product management to insure that new releases of our solutions match market and customer expectations. Clifton has overall responsibility for ensuring that our customers receive responsive support and quality problem determination.
Clifton has over 16 years of experience in various technology domains, including secure data communications, managed file transfer, EDI and web development. His background includes roles in development, project management and in-depth level three customer care management. His extensive software development experience includes methodologies such as Waterfall and Agile. He has worked in companies having CMMI, Six Sigma and ISO certifications and has assisted those companies with maintaining these certifications on a go-forward basis.
Clifton came to bTrade from Click Commerce where he had been working on the TD legacy solutions for more than four years maintaining and enhancing the solution offerings, as well as interacting with the enterprise and spoke customer base.
He holds a Bachelor of Engineering Degree (Computer Engineering) from the University of Mumbai, India.
Scott Beland – Director of Customer Support
Scott joined bTrade in 2008 bringing with him more than 20 years of experience across multiple facets of the IT industry. In addition to managing the support function, he is an active member of the support team and also has the role of Service Delivery Manager for several of bTrade’s largest accounts.
Scott spent 17 years with IBM, starting out as a field engineer in mainframe support before moving into network support and implementation. He managed the IBM Global Services EDI interconnect, a role he continued in when that business was sold to GXS in 2005.
Since joining bTrade, Scott has been focused on building a customer support team comprised of individuals who possess both extensive technical knowledge and world-class customer support skills. The bTrade customer support team has more than five decades of combined experience in delivering technical solutions to their customers.
Scott holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Programming from Tampa College.
Peter Voveris – Director of Pre-Sales and Professional Services
Peter joined bTrade in 2012 as the Director of Pre-Sales and Professional Services. In addition to product management, he is responsible for managing the end-to-end delivery of client engagement projects and leading the professional services and delivery efforts within each of the bTrade’s defined target markets. This includes pre-sales support, successful solution implementations, and post-sales support.
Peter brings over 12 years experience in the technology services field, most recently at Axway Software where he worked with EMA (European Medicines Agency) customers and was responsible for the design and management of their communications gateway. This gateway system is used by the pharmaceutical industry for adverse drug event reporting.
Peter began his career working with managed file transfer solutions in 2000 where he was an early employee hired by Cyclone Commerce. Cyclone Commerce was acquired by Sopra, who re-launched the company as Axway Software. Through this transition, Peter advanced and delivered consistent leadership in his professional services roles.
Peter has a degree in Information Technology and brings over 20 years of senior level technology experience, with over 12 years of deep MFT experience in such areas as marketing, development, support and services. His focus will be on secure managed file transfer gateways for companies and organizations of all sizes.
